Here at The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), we offer a range of technology support services for people with sight loss in their own homes called the Technology Support Squad (TSS). This is a free service that we couldn’t offer without volunteer support. Volunteers across the UK visit people with sight loss in their homes to support them with a range of tech queries. These range from switching on the audio description on their TV and setting up a new mobile phone to having issues with their antivirus on their computer.

We also have training roles to demonstrate using iPads and tablets to get online using voiceover and zoom. Volunteers can also give support at training events or meet customers at a coffee shop or library.

Once a volunteer accepts a home visit request they receive the customer's contact details and can arrange their visit from there. These roles are as ad hoc as our volunteers would like them to be and can fit in easily with other committments. Volunteers can accept/reject requests and decide the best time for their visit.

If you would like to learn more about this volunteer opportunity, or if more information is required, please do get in touch.
