We at Serendipity Inns and Bars are two highly experienced managed pub operators and we are looking to building our own quality public house business. We are looking for General Managers who share our passion for quality public houses, hospitality, cask ales and great food.

The Duke of York at Romiley is one of the first of our collection and we are looking for a General Manager to lead the development of the business in the Serendipity way. The Duke, as it is known locally, dates back to 1786 is a traditional pub with a lounge bar, vault and function room. The business is of a size where it can be easily managed, with the focus on build a reputation for consistently high standards of hospitality and quality.

The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of day to day management and is an active contributor to the strategic development of the businesses offer. Day to day responsibilities include, leading and managing the team (bar and kitchen), recruitment, administration sales planning, stock control and ordering.

The business is currently 80/20 drink & food and we are looking for it to build to 60/40 drink & food by growing overall sales. We believe that there is the potential to grow the business by at least 30%.

The successful applicant will enjoy interacting with locals, who use the business for drink and food, and also able to attract new guests to the business. Because of the size of the business having the skills to drive cover turns and volume will be key.
